| The sand and rock beaches are home to very
distinct communities of life. The rocks support an astounding community
of plants and animals that withstand the pounding of the surf and stresses
caused by changing tides. Animals living on the sandy beach usually burrow.
The only evidence you may see of them are broken shells or the feeding
of the shorebirds.
Most people think of sandy beaches when they envision the shoreline. Indeed, this region of Oregon has very dynamic sandy beaches punctuated by headlands of sandstone or metamorphic rock. |
